The many spectators that turned up to witness the inaugural E-Networks Cross Fit games were given much to cheer about as athletes displayed their fitness and strength in various events in the inaugural Cross Fitness games held yesterday at the National Park.
Athletes from Guyana and the United States of America matched their skills in dead lift, bar over burpees, suicide 200m, kettlebell swings, pull-ups, box jumps, trusters, toes to bar, roman chair sit ups, 1500m run, cleans, pushups, wheel chair and sand bags carry.
Joseph Rivera of the USA withstood rigid challenges from his rivals to win the male category with 485 points. Dillon Mahadeo of Cross Fit Bel Air Gym and Tim Lombardi of the USA were tied on 413 points, but Mahadeo edged his opponent for second place after finishing the events more rapidly.
Mahadeo clocked one hour and 20 seconds while Lombardi ended in one hour and 26 seconds. Neefzkiel Yisrael of local gym Top End placed fourth with 406 points while Jeremy Chow of Elite place fifth on 393.
Alisha Fortune of the Guyana Defense Force was the easily the fittest female on show as she amassed 495 points. Her closest rival Rebecka Moore of the USA who placed second on 460 points, Nadina Taharally came third with 455. Tatianna Wooafoa was fourth on 335 and Indra Mekdeci fifth with 320.
Team USA amassed 1376 points to take the team title while GDF took the runner up spot with 1181. Elite System gym occupied the third position with 1161, Interline Fitness placed fourth on 1032; Life Fitness was fifth on 981 followed by Top End (971), Body Max (895), Fitness Paradise (799) and Cross Fit Bel Air (778).
Fitness Express, Aqua Mist, Powerade, Vita Mal and Copa Airlines were the co-sponsors of eh inaugural event.
