Since Otis Daniels told the court yesterday that he lives nowhere, the Camp Street jail will be his new home.
The man was yesterday remanded to prison after he was charged with threatening his mother.
Magistrate Annette Singh read to Daniels that on February 25, at Tucville, he threatened Claudette Tyrell, whereby a breach of the peace may be occasioned.
Daniels, 31, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The Prosecution’s facts stated that the victim is the mother of the defendant and he is always in the habit of threatening her. On the day in question the man went to his mother’s place of employment which is the Tucville Secondary School, and threatened to kill her and burn her house down.
The facts further related that the woman became fearful for her life and reported the matter to the East La Penitence Police Station.
The Prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the defendant has no fixed place of abode. And if the man should be released on bail he might be a further threat to his mother.
Daniels, when given a chance to address the court, stated that he never threatened his mother. He said that he only pleaded guilty because he was told that is the fastest way to get rid of the matter.
After hearing his statement the Magistrate entered a not guilty plea. She also upheld the Prosecution’s request and remanded the accused to prison.
Daniels was informed that the matter will go to trial on March 16.
