Spit Fire shows class to take feature event at Rising Sun
Despite the inclement weather that swept most of coast of Guyana on Sunday the one day ‘Jumbo Jet Sprint Classic’ horserace meet organised by the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and racing stable in collaboration with the Rising Sun

Turf Club came off successfully at the Club’ entity, Arima Park, West Coast Berbice.
At the end of the successful day it was Spit Fire of the Mohammed ‘Nankoo’ Shariff Racing stable that took the cake as it battered the field the win the feature D1 and lower 1100M sprint and the $1M and trophy compliments of Jumbo Jet Truck and Auto Sales.
Before the race got on the way the event was unpredictable as it unfolded with a lot of sprinters in the lineup some moving up in class for the big money on offer.
As the race got underway it was Right To Rule of the Jagdeo stable with the Trinidadian Razzack that went out early and set the pace being challenged by the speedy Appealing Harvest of the Jumbo Jet stable. Even with the soft under-footing the race was going at a terrific pace. Spit Fire with Rodrigues on the perch took some time before it settled in and started to move into position. It gaining tremendous ground as the animals hit the far turn. By the time the horses had struck the homestretch it was Spit Fire that was burning up the track, gathering speed and lengthening its lead with every stride for its second win in only its third race on Guyana soil.

The sizable crowd on hand saw Release the Beast of the Jumbo Jet stable with Ramnauth on the perch being release with ferocity in the wet conditions as it took the E3 and Lower event to win the $500,000 and trophy from Good Will Boy as Swing East and Settle In Seattle rounded out the money.
The Three year old West Indies Bred event saw its My Choice also of The Jumbo Jet Stable with Colin Ross showing its choice as it trudged through the soft under-footing for a close come from behind win over Storm Bird and Midnight Blue. The win was worth $500,000 and trophy.
Sent From Above, ridden by Paul Delph, of the Lenny Singh stable took top honours in the G1 event as it won the $400,000 and trophy from Joyful Victory, Settling Jet and Shooting Star.
Slim Shady was in winner’s row in the Three year old Guyana Bred event, winning the $250,000 and trophy from Amazon Warrior.
Mary Ann of the Lenny Singh Stable with Paul Delph again in the saddle saw that entity winning it second event as it raced away with the I3 and lower event ahead of Red Jet, De Gump and Red Jet.
Affinity with Kevin Paul was in winner’s row in the J3 and lower race with Cart man, Short man and Quincy the others that placed.
Paul Delph for his two wins was adjudged the top jockey on show. The Jumbo Jet stable flew away with the top stable prize with the Lenny Singh Stable also being outstanding; with Carlton “Black Mouth” Pluck of the Jumbo Jet connections the top trainer on show.
