Show Stoppers came from behind to secure literally a last minute goal that pushed them ahead of Silver Bullets Saturday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court in the final of New Era’s Entertainment (NEE) Mackeson-sponsored Mashramani Futsal tournament.

Show Stoppers stole the show with just over a minute left in the game to come away with a 6-5 victory that sparked loud celebrations from the team and its supporters. Silver Bullets dominated the game up until the late surge from Show Stoppers.
Deon Carter was the hero for Show Stoppers with a hat-trick, including the deciding goal which earned them the title. Anthony Sancho scored twice while Steve Brewley added the other goal for Show Stoppers in the pulsating and action-filled contest.
Eventual Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, Silver Bullets’ Colwin Drakes scored twice for his team, which pushed them up 5-3 heading into the closing minutes of the second half of the game. Damian Williams, Jamaine Samuels and Keon Sears had the other three goals in the encounter as Silver Bullets paid a heavy price for being too defensive.
Silver Bullets had gone on an attack early in the game and looked to boot Show Stoppers beyond redemption. Having jumped out to a lead, Silver Bullets tried to protect the advantage when they passed the ball around in an attempt to run the clock down.
However, the tactic opened opportunities for Show Stoppers who continued on a relentless attack in Silver Bullets’ box. They managed to get the three goals they needed to put them ahead. Silver Bullets were visibly heartbroken after the unexpected loss.
In the third place game, Magic Star drubbed Plantain All-Star 6-3 with Clifford Ally and Clarence Huggins scoring twice for Magic Star. Jermaine Grandison and Tevin Thompson added the other two goals in the win. Donovan Francis scored twice and Tevin David once for Plantain All-Star.
Show Stoppers pocketed $300,000 while the runner-up, Silver Bullets got $100,000. The third-placed team, Magic Star received $75,000, with Plantain All-Star collecting $25,000 for placing fourth. The MVP, Drakes got a pair of Futsal sneakers and trophy. High Rollers were adjudged ‘The Best Uniformed’ team of the tournament.
