– South Ruimveldt humbles Saints
Defending champions Lodge continued on their journey to successfully defend their title with another easy win against Central High who they defeated 2-0 as play in the Nestle Milo Under-20 Schools Football Competition
resumed yesterday, at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Playing in the second fixture of the day, the reigning champs were sent on their way when Jarel Grannum scored after eight minutes, but stubborn resistance from Central High kept the contest on a knife’s edge as they went to the break with a slim lead.
In the second period, both teams attacked with menace, but again the respective backline held firm, before Lodge’s Sylvester Richardson gave them a little ease when he netted in the 58th minute of play.
No more goals were scored after then and the champs made it two from as many matches to remain firm favourites to retain the title.
In the third game, South Ruimveldt ran riot over a hapless St. Stanislaus unit, dispatching them by a 4-0 margin.
On target for the winners were Kevin McPherson, who fired in a brace in the 11th and 27th, while Shaquille Blair-40th and Dequan Alleyne-70th completed their tally.
