In recognition of Mashramani 2015, the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of Kuru Kururu Primary School hosted its third annual Culture Day on Wednesday, and according to Head teacher Miss Linda Paul “the event is getting bigger and is catching on”.
Parents came out in their numbers along with their children in support of the event. Cultural costumes depicting the six ethnicities in Guyana were worn by parents, teachers and students.
The event which was held at the school was attended by approximately 250 students of the school.
There were cultural presentations which included singing, dancing, games and a presentation on the history/significance of Mashramani in Guyana.
There were lots of goodies on sale to eat and drink.
The students related to Kaieteur News that they were happy and excited to be a part of the Mashramani celebrations, and the PTA of the School said that they are looking forward to a greater event next year.
