DEAR EDITOR,
My attention was drawn to a post on Facebook by a PPP supporter from the Mabaruma area who is expressing his thanks for the party that brought democracy to our dear land. The individual even invited those who have negative comments to first bring their Certificates of Perfection.
Quite a solid invitation from someone who may not be in a position to throw in any certificates of his own – since we all know that this official holds a senior position in the Administration and spends our tax dollars on his whims and fancies. He is so above board that he is not called to account for the funds he utilizes. One instance (among others) to note – the Schools’ National Athletics Championships were aborted last year due to inclement weather, yet no monies have been refunded to the Regional system. If this is what the supporter is thankful for, then he needs to rephrase his comment. If the democracy he boasts of includes being free from sanction for misdeeds, then Oxford is totally wrong in its definition.
