– Sukhpaul business enterprise lends support
All roads lead to the Cumberland Cricket Ground in East Canje, Berbice for the popular annual fundraiser – Mash Cup 2015. This is the third edition hosted by the Young Warriors Cricket Club. The first two were very successful and this one is expected to be no different. Proceeds from this event will go towards further enhancement and maintenance of the venue, the day to day running of the club and small contributions to the three main religious organisation within the area.
The tournament will be of five overs aside and involves 11 teams from the No 19 straight road to Gangaram in the east Canje area.
At the presentation ceremony, Raj Sukhpaul, Managing Director of Sukhpaul Business Enterprise, New Amsterdam Branch said that he is happy to be part of this tournament for the third time and is impressed with the work of the cricket club. He is satisfied that his investment is for a good cause. Speaking on behalf of YWCC, Cricket Director and Senior Coach Hubern Evans thanked the sponsor for their continued support to the club and called on the public to support the business enterprise so that they can in turn give back to the community.
Evans thanked the other sponsors on board so far namely: Ansa McAL, Ashiek and Son Motor a Supplies and Auto Sale, attorney at law Mursaline Bacchus, Waqar Sahid of A Ally and Son Showroom, New Building Society Ltd, Memorex Enterprise, Republic Bank Guyana Ltd, Jim Bacchus Travel Agency, Mortimer George, Magistrate Chandra Sohan, Martin Singh of Associated Business Services, Sharples Furniture Establishment, Prakash Mahadeo, Rayman Seedatt of Extreme Trucking, Satyanand Sripal of Price is Right, RHTY&SC, J’S Printery, Ahmad Satar Mundal, Office a Express and Geddes Grant.
The championship begins at 9am sharp with the host YWCC taking on Gangaram followed by Buski Eleven vs Kendall’s Union, Seawell vs Canefield, Rose Hall Community Centre vs Betsy Triple Star and No 7 vs Goed Bananen Land. Defending champions Young and Restless fittingly drew the bye.
Cash, trophies and medals valued at $150,000 will be up for grabs. Fans will also have the opportunity to win fabulous gate prizes. Trampoline for kids will be there along with a well stocked Ansa McAl bar and musical entertainment. DJ Spongy will be in the house.
