BVA equip Port Mourant Secondary
– will establish model court for school competitions
Vice President of the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA), Mr. Godwyn Allicock recently presented volleyballs and a net to the Port Mourant Secondary School. The gesture is part of the association’s plans to promote the sport in schools, whilst attracting more female players on board.

The equipment was handed over to the school’s Sports Co-ordinator, Mr. Rohan Etwaroo.
Allicock indicated that the BVA will be assisting the school with the marking of the court and erecting the posts in time for the school’s planned end of the month Inter House competition.
Principal of the school Mr. Mark Lyte, who is also the President of the Guyana Teachers Union said he was pleased that volleyball will be part of the school’s sports programme and expressed gratitude to the association for the donation.
The BVA has plans to assist all schools in Berbice and to also promote Beach Volleyball and Volleyball for Females as part of its 2015 activities. Allicock used the opportunity to call on the corporate community to assist in spreading the game across the county. Berbice produced the first National Team back in 1954.
