With just a few days to go before race day all systems are falling into place for the Rising Sun Turf Club “Jumbo Jet Sprint Classic” one day Pre-Mashramani horserace meet set for the Rising Sun Turf Club,
Arima Park West Coast Berbice on Sunday.
The meet, which will be held in collaboration with the Rising Sun Turf club, will now be an eight event card with the race for four year old horses been taken off the programme. All the events on the day’s programme will be 1100M sprints with prize monies including cash trophies and other incentives being in the vicinity of $7M.
Another initiative will see patrons being given free programmes and parking. With entries closing yesterday, over 60 horses had taken entry for the lucrative prizes on offer.
Who will win the feature D1 and lower event is still anyone guess as most of the owners have thrown the faster horses in the lineup. The Shariff stable heads the line up with three entries with the likes of California Strike, Spit Fire and Swing Easy. The Jumbo Get will be throwing in the speedy Appealing Harvest and Jack Is My Style. The Jagdeo Connection from all indication will be going with Right To Rule and the fit again Country Armage.
Others such as Red and Lovely, Passion for Song and Money in return, will be looking to make their name. However all eyes will be on the newly imported and highly rated Piz a Holiday of the Elcock/ Poonai stable as it makes its debut on the local arena. The coveted prize is a sumptuous $1M and trophy.
The race for Guyana and West Indian bred three year old horses will see the likes of It’s My Choice, Gold De Cova, Keep On Swinging, Dream Come through, Midnight Blue and Sweet Return looking to take the returns of $500,000 and trophy.
Captain Crook of the Jumbo Jet stable will be hard pressed as it looks for its fourth win in a row in the E2 and lower event for the $500,000 first prize and trophy. However it will have to first get past the likes of Settle In Seattle, Release the beast, Swing Easy and Goodwill Boy.
Another close race is anticipated in the G class event for the $400,000 and trophy up for grabs with Battle Hymn set to battle Cassie, Silent Night, Princess Alicia, War Craft, Shooting Star, Sent from Above and Settling Jet.
There is also $400,000 and trophy on offer in the event for four year old animals. There is a race for Guyana bred and born three year old horses for a winner take of $250,000 and trophy. Among those lined up to go are Amazon Warrior and Slim Shady.
The winner of the H and lower race will also get $250,000 and trophy as She so Special and Royal Cash heads the lineup.
Mary Ann, Dance for Gold, Red Jet, the Gump and Little are among some of the animals racing in the I3 and lower event for the winning $200,000 and trophy.
The J3 and lower event has a winning prize of $150,000 and trophy and Quincy, Short Man, Dance for Gold, Royal Passion, Red Region, the Gump and Trigger will be looking to draw down the winnings.
Over the past few weeks the famous Rising Sun Turf Club venue has been a buzz of activities with preparations almost complete. Renovation works has seen improvement on the pavilion, paddock, stables and track.
Rising Sun Turf Club will be more than ready come race day with the track in the best of condition and come race day, with the dry spell, some fast time are expected. The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
