ESPN and E-Networks facilitate ICC World Cup coverage at President’s request

ESPN, the rights holder for the ICC Cricket World Cup have allowed state-owned NCN to air the major matches during the ICC Cricket World Cup tournament.
The disclosure was made to Kaieteur News on Saturday via e-mail from E-Networks Inc.
This was a direct result of President Donald Ramotar’s request that the majority of Guyanese be allowed to enjoy and partake in this major series.
ESPN traditionally only allows coverage of its content to cable subscribers through its only locally authorized partner in Guyana: E-Networks Inc.
E-Networks will provide NCN with a live feed of the matches which started yesterday, waiving its rights to exclusivity for the matches in the Guyanese territory.
ESPN has also requested as part of this effort governmental support in its fight against piracy in the local market.
ESPN has been fighting local piracy of its ESPN and Disney feeds against Atlantic Cable Network and Moviestar that have been repeatedly warned to desist from pirating ESPN signals, which according to the e-mail they include as part of their commercial cable services.
