Police and army ranks have detained four men and seized a vehicle, a handgun and ammunition during a raid on a marijuana farm near the notorious Millie’s Hideout area along the Soesdyke/Linden area.
The ranks used a helicopter during Saturday’s raid.
A .22 Taurus revolver, three shotgun cartridges and a cell phone were found in one of the camps.
Police said that an area comprising about 12 acres of cannabis sativa plants was found under cultivation. “The fields had approximately 80,000 plants, some at a height of about 11feet. The fields of marijuana plants along with two abandoned camps were destroyed,” a police release stated.
“A motor vehicle was searched along a trail in which 550 grams of marijuana were found. Four men have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.”
The motor vehicle was also impounded.
