Police who are investigating the death of a Lima Sands woman are awaiting the results of a Post Mortem Examination before a conclusion of the woman’s death is determined.
The dead woman’s husband, Annurid, only name given, has been held by police at the Anna Regina Police station for questioning. He has since told detectives that he didn’t kill his wife whom he said was ailing for some time now. He told the police that she was vomiting blood.
Thirty-seven-year-old Hemwantie, a/k/a “Cathy” was discovered dead by her husband, Annirud, early yesterday, at the couple’s Lima Sands home.
The woman’s husband who conveyed the message regarding his dead wife to his relatives who live next door to him told them that his wife slept and didn’t wake up.”Like the lady dead.”
The dead woman’s family said they learnt of her death around 5:30 Saturday morning after her husband had informed them about his wife. The family added that both Cathy and her husband were known alcoholics in the Lima Sands area and many times they had arguments which resulted in fights. “Some time when we go over and them a fight, them would say, is joke.”
The family members said that they often kept their distance since the couple, who usually drinks heavily and engages in frequent fist fights would tend to reconcile afterwards.
Police at the Anna Regina Police Station were summoned to the area where they have since transported the woman to the Suddie Funeral Parlor. Investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, a neighbour said that she heard sounds emanating from the dead woman’s house. It sounded like someone was hitting her with a piece of wood. She said that after the dead woman’s screams subsided, there were no other sounds until they learnt of the woman’s death later Saturday morning.
The dead woman had one adult son. He is 23 years old.
