The closing date for entries for the impending much anticipated Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with the Jumbo Jet business enterprise and racing Stable, ”Jumbo Jet Sprint Classic”, one day Pre-Mashramani horserace
meet set for Sunday 22nd at the Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park West Coast Berbice has been extended. With this being the first race for the new season after a lengthy lay off, a number of owners and trainers are still putting their animals in order. Not wanting to lose out on the lucrative offers and an opportunity to impress early, a number of the owners had beseeched the organisers for some more time to get on board.
Closing date is now set for Wednesday.
Over $7M in cash and trophies are on offer in the nine-race card with all the races set to be 1100M events. So far over 50 animals have been registered.
Over the past days most of the top stables have been rounding out preparations, with the Jumbo Jet stable leading the way with 12 entries. Shariff has seven, whilst others such as Elcock, Bacchus, Sooklall, Habibulla, Dookie, Jagdeo, Crawford, Singh, Velloza and Jagroop having multiple entries.
The Jumbo jet stable will see the likes of Jack Is My Style, Appealing Harvest, Captain Crook, Release the Beast, Its My Choice, Dream Come Through, Keep on Swinging, She So Special, Princess Alisha, Settling Jet and Awesome Warrior in action.
The Shariff Stable has the likes of Swing Easy, Settling Star, Gold De Cova, Miss Lewinsky, Silent Night, Settle in Seattle and Spit Fire are expected to burn up the opposition.
Among other top entries so far are Curfew Tower, Country Armage, Red and Lovely, Passion for Song, Strom Bird, Unsettled, Just call Me Boss, Battle Hymn and War Craft among others the event is expected to be scintillating.
Meanwhile, renovation works have progressed satisfactorily and are expected to be completed during the week, the arena has already taking a new look. The entire sward and pavilion including the paddock, commentator’s booth and official viewing area has been renovated.
The feature event for animals classified D1 and lower will see the winner taking home a sumptuous $1M and trophy.
The three-year-old event for Guyana and West Indian bred horses has $500,000 and trophy for the winner. The E2 event also has a winning purse of $500,000 and trophy. There is $400,000 and trophy up for grabs for the winner in the G1 and lower contest.
A first prize of $400,000 and trophy is on offer in the event for four year old animals.
The three year-old Guyana bred animals will gallop for a winner’s pocket of $250,000 and trophy. The winner of the H and lower race will also get $250,000 and trophy.
The event for I3 and lower animals will see the winner taking home $200,000 and trophy.
The J3 and lower event has a winning prize of $150,000 and trophy.
The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
