Playing for MYO against Valiants in a T/20 match of the season championship level in Trinidad over
the weekend, Guyanese Frederick Pestano smashed nine fours and five sixes in an unbeaten 93 but could not prevent his team from a thrilling two-run defeat.
Valiants batted first and made 151- 3 in the game which was reduced to 14 overs due to slow over rate. St Lucian Mervin Wells led the way with 72 as Pestano had 1-30 from three overs, Gabriel Blackwell (1-39) and Shyan Moowah (1-41 from four overs).
In reply MYO made 149-3 but despite Pestano’s blitz and 19 from Nicholas Ramdass, their team fell to short. Needing 13 off the last over they could only manage 11 even thought a controversial Umpiring decision which ruled a four off the last ball when it was felt that it had cleared the boundary dashing their victory hopes.
