An alleged “chicken thief,” who was hit with 15 pellets last Friday by a farmer at Kuru Kururu on the Linden/ Soesdyke Highway, says he was sleeping when he was wounded.
The injured man has been identified as 52-year-old Mark Evans, a father of five of Kuru Kururu.
Evans, who is under police guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC)’s Male Surgical Ward, is nursing pellet wounds to his abdomen.
According to information received, Evans was shot last Friday night by a farmer after he was caught on the man’s premises. The farmer was held for questioning but was subsequently released.
At the GPHC yesterday, Evans could not say what happened. He would only say that he was sleeping when he was shot.
Investigations are ongoing.
