Dear Editor,
I make a pledge to my fellow Guyanese that I will be Fighting for Equal Rights and Justice for all, and for the creation of real DEMOCRACY in our nation where everyone, regardless of the umbrella coverings of ethnicity, religion, class or sexual orientation, can be assured that they will be treated with the respect and dignity they are entitled to as citizens of Guyana.
Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream of a united nation where people of all races could sit down together at the table of brotherhood and sisterhood. I would like to expand that dream into Guyanese reality where we do not simply sit down together at the table, but where we share equally of the fare laid out thereupon.
This is the representation that the ‘Independent Party’ and I will be taking to Parliament when elected on May 11, 2015. Take into consideration that I already have a proven track record of being willing to stand up and be counted when the well being of my fellow citizens is at stake. Not many can make such declaration with a straight face.
So, please give the ‘Independent Party’ that chance to be your voice in Parliament, and we will ensure that all citizens are treated equally.
Mark A. Benschop
