Bishop’s High as the 3rd Annual Nestle Milo Under-20 Schools Football Competition continued yesterday with four matches, at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Playing in the second fixture of the day, East Ruimveldt fell behind after six minutes when Tyrese Souvenir took full advantage of a miscommunication between two opposing defenders to split them and slot past the goalkeeper.
However, the one-goal deficit seemed to ignite the East Georgetown-based team as they initiated several ominous raids, but stout defending by Bishop’s High erased their chances until one minute before the half when Tyrone Carrington was left unmarked inside the penalty area following a goalmouth scrimmage and he poked in from close range.
Shortly after, the whistle sounded to signal halftime, leaving the teams all to play for in the second period.
On the resumption, East Ruimveldt increased the tempo, creating several chances, but poor finishing kept the contest even.
Ten minutes after the resumption, East Ruimveldt’s Romel Legall produced a fine piece of artistry when he weaved past two defenders and the advancing goalkeeper, before squeezing his shot from a tight angle into the far corner to give his team a 2-1 lead.
Carrington completed his brace five minutes later after racing on to a long pass from

Just when it looked as though East Ruimveldt were coasting to victory, Imran Khan added a bit of interest to the proceedings when he rifled past the East Ruimveldt custodian in the 59th as they trailed 2-3.
East Ruimveldt, however, managed to stave off a few dangerous raids to preserve their advantage until the final whistle sounded.
