The GUMDAC Annual Open Doubles Badminton tournament starts on Monday at the Queen’s College badminton courts.
This will be the first tournament for the year for the Guyana Badminton Association, one of many planned for the year.
Players have been in training in the early part of this year and the tournament will see the top and upcoming players in action.
The GBA plans on visiting schools as part of their developing programme and will start in the county of Berbice this month.
Their top players are also in constant training as they have a packed calendar this year both locally and internationally.
Some of the events include the Pan American Junior in Mexico, the Caribbean Championships in Dominican Republic, the World Junior Championships in Peru and Guyana will host the Easter Junior International where Trinidad, Suriname and French Guiana are expected to take part.
