A test of endurance, dexterity and reliability will be the primary focus when the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) stages its Endurance and Fun Day Race Meet on Sunday, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Apart from the two-hour Endurance Race, the day’s activities will also include Dexterity and Reverse races and a Time Attack, while patrons and families will have the benefit of having a real fun time whilst watching competitors and machines combined strive to outdo each other in a test of reliability and survival.
A number of top exponents in the Endurance segment of motorsport are anticipated to be present among them being Team Shewjattan, who is the reigning champions, Team Fullworks and Team Ramchand, always formidable opponents for any opposition.
Word from all the respective camps have indicated that the teams are busy preparing to throw down the gauntlet on each other and give the fans a real treat for the day. Kaieteur Sport speaking with an official close to the sport was told that Endurance racing is on the upswing and is growing increasingly popular within the racing community.
“You can see more and more teams now confirming participation and this is a clear indication that this segment of the sport is catching on,” the source stated. Brian Ten-Pow and Shawn Seejattan, Shiraz and Shahab Roshandin, while the Ali brothers, Anand Ramchand and Adrian Fernandes are all experienced and formidable drivers and among those slated to compete.
The official added that competitors will be asked to pay $2000 to enter the competition and admission for spectators is $500. Starting time is 11:00 hrs.
