A 41-year-old man yesterday appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown
Magistrates’ Court to answer a drug trafficking charge.
Daro Peters, on February 2, last, reportedly had in his possession two grams of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He pleaded not guilty.
When asked by the Magistrate about his occupation, Peters explained, “I does sweep up and dem thing.” He went on to say that he was “sick, bad.”
When the magistrate inquired of his address, he said he lived “over de river” (West Coast Demerara).
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Shellon Daniels asked that bail be denied since there was no special reason advanced. She added that the address the defendant gave to police subsequent to his arrest was, 103 Wellington Street, Georgetown.
The Magistrate refused bail, and Peters was remanded to prison until February 12.
