– 31 murder cases listed
The police contingent led by Assistant Superintendent Ronald Ali and Inspector Michael Newland and

with support from Sergeant Randy Hamilton led a 25-man contingent from the Police ‘B’ Division for the ceremonial opening of the Criminal Session of the Berbice High Court. The ranks did a commendable job during the traditional parade, march past and ceremonial opening of the February Criminal Sessions of the Berbice Assizes which opened on Tuesday and was held in front of the Berbice High Court on Esplanade and Vryheid Road New Amsterdam, Berbice.
The police contingent marched off from Police Headquarters at Coburg Street and Strand before proceeding along Strand, New Amsterdam to the High Court was accompanied by the police Drum Corps.
Justice Brassington Reynolds who will be presiding over the criminal session of the Berbice High Court, along with Justice Nareshwar Harnanan, who will be presiding over the Civil Court, took the salute.
The judges were accompanied by Police Commander of ‘B’ division; Assistant Commissioner Brian Joseph and escorted by Assistant Superintendent Ian Williams and Senior Superintendent of Prisons, Linden Cornette.
36 matters are listed to be heard during the session including a whopping 31 murder cases. There are three for sexual penetration; one for carnal Knowledge and one for fraudulent conversion.
