Dear Editor,
In light of the recent drug bust at CJIA, the Government of Guyana needs to revisit the issue of granting persons VIP treatment at our airports.
All persons traveling abroad should at all times be subjected to vigorous security checks, regardless of their political status, connections etc. well, with the exceptions of the President and the Prime Minister.
The fact that persons with special privileges from the government are granted such access to our airport, is a major security breach that could possibly lead to international terrorists gaining access.
At least, we now have an idea how persons are allowed to smuggle their drugs in very large quantities, compliments of VIP treatment.
