The management of Young Warriors Cricket is busy keeping their players active in preparation
for the 2015 season. In a statement from the club, emphasis is being placed on the junior cricketers in an effort to unearth new talent.
On Saturday, they took first innings points from Blairmont CC. Batting first, YWCC made 97 all out in 33.2 overs of their allotted 40 overs first innings restriction with national Under-15 player Kevin Sinclair top scoring with 20. Z. Inshan took 3 for 27. He was supported by Seon Glasgow and A. Shewahal with two wickets a piece.
In reply, Blairmont CC was bundled out for 69 with C. Veerasammy offering the lone resistance with 27. Left arm spinner Trevon Stanislaus took 5 for 9. Sinclair supported with 2 for 15. Batting a second time, YWCC raced to 130 for 4 declared, Berbice Under-15 all rounder Junior Williams scored a rapid 50 not out with 3 sixes and same number of fours. Sinclair was again in the runs with 39. Javid Karim took two for 21.
Blairmont CC made 80 for 6 in their second innings to earn a draw.
Karim made an unbeaten 25. Brandon Pydanna and Aaron Beharry took two wickets a piece. On Sunday, YWCC batted first against
D’Edward Sports Club and scored a challenging 218 for 4 off their allotment of 40 overs with Sinclair blasting 83.
Stanislaus and Williams supported with 34 and 31 respectively. D’Edward were shot out for 39. Sinclair and Williams took four wickets each and were supported by Pydanna with two. In their second turn at the crease, YWCC declared on 53 for 3. D’Edward were 44 for 4 when the game ended in a draw. Jevon Schultz and Aaron Beharry took two wickets a piece.
