Miner charged for robbery at South Ruimveldt Park

Facing two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and gun before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday, was a 22-year-old miner, Rafael Hintzen, of East La Penitence.
The charges which were read to him by Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry stated that on January25, last, in South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown, Ryburn Fraser and Cidel Hector were both robbed by Hintzen while sitting in a car.
The accused reportedly stole one gold chain valued $250,000, one gold ring valued $100,000, $400,000 in cash, US$360, Euro 50 (equivalent to G$16,000),TT$320,  B’dos $40 all totaling over G$800,000 and said to be the property of Fraser.
From Hector, he is accused of stealing $200,000 and one Samsung phone valued $4000.
Police Prosecutor Grant, requested that bail be denied since Hintzen, who maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty to both charges, is currently before the court facing charges of a similar nature. The Prosecutor contended that this crime was committed while Hintzen was out on bail on the other matters.
Considering the arguments put forward by Grant, Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry denied Hintzen bail and adjourned the matter to February 25.
