A 49-year-old foreign national was yesterday charged and fined for entering and leaving the shores of Guyana, without the consent of the relevant immigrant authority.
It is alleged that on January 27, last, Manuel Bediaat entered Guyana by sea and left without going through necessary immigration checks.
Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, who heard the case at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, explained through a Spanish translator, that the consequence for his actions would be a fine or an alternative six months imprisonment. The man admitted his guilt and was fined $30,000.
It is still unclear as to where he came from, and the purpose for which he came.
