At a presentation ceremony held recently at the office of the sponsor, Mr Tajeram Khemraj, sales supervisor, said that his company loves to get involved with sports, especially when the community will benefit from such activity. He added that he follows the work of the Cumberland based cricket club and he is impressed with their work and contribution to the community, resulting in his company coming on board willingly.
Speaking on behalf of the club, coordinator Ishwar Singh thanked Ansa McAl for coming on board once again and called on the public to support the company so that they can continue to give back to charities. He said that the tournament is now very popular amongst second division teams in the area and fans and players are looking forward for the big day. He said that the YWCC will continue to work to produce outstanding cricketers and pointed to the success of young Shimron Hetmyer who was at the presentation. He added that while the club has not yet produced a West Indies senior cricketer, he is certain that Shimron will be the first and called on parents to get their young kids involved in the game. He said that there are no fees to join the club and young cricketers should take full advantage.
Other sponsors so far are: Bank of Nova Scotia, Ashraf Ali of Ashiek and Son Motor Supplies and Auto Sales, Republic Bank, The New Building Society Ltd, Jim Bacchus Travel Service, Magistrate Chandra Sohan and Sharples Furniture Establishment.
