Despite the unpredictable weather, one match of the A. Ally and Sons sponsored Under-17 cricket competition for secondary schools in Berbice was played on Friday last with Vryman’s Erven taking first innings points from Canje Secondary.
The match, which was played at the Young Warriors Cricket Ground, was highlighted by a fine all round performance from national Under-15 all rounder Kevin Sinclair.
Vryman’s Erven won the toss and inserted Canje Secondary who were bowled out for 68 with Sinclair the only batsman offering resistance with 36. For VESS, Safraz Solomon took 3 for 5 and Berbice Under-15 pacer Junior Williams 3 for 20.
VESS replied with 128 all out with Kyle Michaels 32 and Isaiah Lewis 28. Sinclair took 7 for 34. In their turn at the crease, Canje Secondary held on to be 54 for 4 to earn a draw. Sinclair again top scored with 23. Trevon Stanislaus supported with 21 not out.
