Another platoon of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Special Forces was flown into Mahdia from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) at Timehri to join the ground searches for the Air Services Limited (ASL) missing Britten Norman Islander that lost communication with Air Traffic Controllers on December 28.
Further, six villagers from Chenapau in Region Eight location will join the search party at Mahdia, Potaro-Siparuni. They will be inserted by helicopters to an area of interest today at sunrise barring no inclement weather, it was stated.
Over the past three days, Special Forces’ ranks, Guyana Forestry Commission officers and line cutters have been extensively combing a large area between North Fork and Black Water rivers. If the search continues to prove futile, additional areas will be examined.
The missing aircraft was piloted by Captain Nicky Persuad and on board too, was 51-year-old David Bisnauth. They were transporting construction materials to Karisparu when the plane went missing.
