The year 2014 may be remembered for the birth of Killamaan 2. By now most Guyanese know who Killamaan1 is. Only Guyana in this entire world of almost 200 sovereign states could have produced Killamaan 1.
In comparing the rule of the People’s National Congress and the People’s Progressive Party, one of the differences that favours the PNC is the complete shamelessness of the PPP in tolerating and protecting Killamaan 1. This man committed so many egregious assaults on the moral fabric of this nation and on each occasion his debauchery was condoned by the PPP leadership. One wonders how a parent could face his kids after voting repeatedly for the PPP to run this country.
In 2014, we had Killamaan 2. This PPP big wig was so drunk that he could hardly stay on his feet after his car smashed into another. Someone took a photo of him after he came out the vehicle, and it circulated quickly on social media. This man was totally drunk. Killamaan 2 wasn’t administered a breathalyzer test. He was not charged. Killamaan 1 was never charged too.
The story of Killamaan 2 last year was the exposure of the true colours of the PPP organization that has been in government the past twenty-two years. My parents were strong PPP supporters. But my parents were decent people. I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that if my parents were alive today, they would have rejected the PPP for the nasty outfit it has become.
I have lived to see my mother-in-law become disgusted with the PPP. If there was ever a supporter of the PPP it was my mother-in-law. She lost a close relative in the violence in the sixties in what was then Mackenzie. Like most Indians from that era, race played a part in her voting patterns. She died at age 88 last October and by then, she had lost all admiration for the PPP. In 2011, she chose not to vote.
We are into an election season; literally months from now. In the campaign, the PPP kings and queens will carefully avoid any mention of what Killamaan 2 did last year, a reckless act that in most countries would have cost him his political job. People have said to me that Killamaan 2 may even throw his hat in the ring if there is a contest for the PPP presidential candidate.
But does it matter who from the PPP throws his/her hat in the ring? They are all the same. From Killamaan 2 in 2014 we can go to Satyra Gyaal in 2014. It was predictable that Satyra Gyaal would have thrown up her skirt and gyrated like a drunken woman dancing to Sparrow in a Trinidad carnival.
You only had to take a look at how this parliamentarian gesticulated in the House when she spoke and you know that somehow, somewhere at any given time, Satyra Gyaal would have done her thing. She chose to do it at a diplomatic function and the American Ambassador was the only one that had a ring side seat since the performance was for him alone.
Satyra Gyaal at the Ambassador’s ball last year reminded one of Tina Turner’s powerful rocker; “Private Dancer.” Satyra Gyaal took the lyrics of Turner’s song too literally. 2014 was the year of the PPP clowns.
On stage was the former Court of Appeal Judge, Honourable Justice Charles Ramson. He told Transparency Institute that his operations as Information Commissioner is out of order since the 2014 budget defunded his office. It wasn’t true. His office got the money from the very 2014 budget. This same gentleman refused last year to accept correspondence if the envelope did have his elevated titles.
2014 ended on an oxymoronic note – Nandlall was both dangerous and loveable. You may disagree with the latter description but forgive me if I am out of order. I know Nandlall did a horribly unimaginable thing but part of that tape was rib-tickling. 2014 was the year of the tape. 2014 was the year of Nandlall. Here is the part of the recording that I can listen to non-stop.
“Maan tell meh de girl name nuh, de man waan f…k de girl, de maan waan knock de girl.” The young reporter is indeed pretty but why does Nandlall’s uncle want to knock her so badly? Surely the PPP must have faces and bodies that attract Anil’s uncle. What about Satyra Gyaal herself? Or could it be the uncle is afraid that he might not like what he sees when Satyra Gyaal does her thing?
