The Central Islamic Organisation in Guyana, in collaboration with The Al-Madina Institute in South Africa has secured one-year scholarships for three Guyanese students, Momin Ali Sugrim, Mohamed Iqbaul Faroude Khan, and Sheik Haniff.
Br. Mohamed Iqbaul Faroude Khan hails from the Essequibo Coast, Br. Sheik Haniff from Alberttown, Georgetown and Br. Momin Ali Sugrim from No.1 Settlement, Blairmont, West Berbice.
During the scholarship they covered a wide range of topics.
This programme was designed to offer students a comprehensive foundation in the main sciences of Islamic knowledge, as well as some practical skills in leadership, communication and research.
Female and male students from different countries were welcomed to a new approach to learning Islam in an environment that is warm, welcoming, and encourages questions ,free thought, and frames the classical knowledge of the pure Quran and authentic Sunnah within the modern context that we live in.
With a range of internationally-acclaimed scholars from South Africa and U.S.A., students were assured that they are taking their religion from instructors who are among the best in their fields. The main instructor throughout this programme was Shaykh Dr. Muhammad bin Yahya al-Husayni al-Ninowy.
The Guyanese participants were able to benefit from a very solid foundation in the core subjects, allowing them to increase their knowledge, certainty and conviction.
They were also exposed to community work and leadership opportunities to develop their skills in teaching, public speaking, writing, and service to humanity. At the end of the programme they were awarded the Ijazah certificate.
They will be attached to the education department of CIOG..
