The Budhan Memorial Turf Club situated at NO 66 Village Corentyne Berbice has organised a one day meet for Sunday January 11th.
The meet caters for horses classified ‘I’ and lower as the organizers seek to give the lower classified horses an opportunity to compete more.
Seven races are listed for the day and as usual an action packed day of racing is anticipated.
The meet, which is organized by Neville and Andrew Budhan, has so far seen over 40 animals entered with some of the top animals in the various classes entered.
Apart from the ‘I’ class race. There are events for K class horses which will be going for a mile with the rest being 6F events.
The race for horses classified J1 and lower will see the winner taking home $120,000.
The winner of the J2 and lower event will collect $100,000.
The J3 and lower horses will compete for first prize money $90,000.
The K and lower race has a first prize of $80,000 up for grabs.
The final two races are for unclassified animals one and two.
The track is said to be in very good condition. In addition a new starting gate is being built which will accommodate more horses.
