Multi-million Christmas Charity Programme
Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) which was formed in 1990 by three-time Commonwealth Youth Service Awardee, the St. Francis Community Developers, on Sunday last officially ushered in its Silver Jubilee celebrations with a religious service at the St. Joseph Anglican Church.
Executives and members of the church attended the service which was conducted by Father Abel Nq’andeve Musonda.
The service included several cultural presentations while the club also distributed food hampers to five senior citizens of the church. Toys were also shared out to children attending the service. In addition, male attendees were presented with a Christmas gift, while the RHTY&SC handed over special gifts to Father Abel Nq’andeve Musonda and Ms. Sonia Leow for their outstanding contribution to the church.
RHTY&SC Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster in brief remarks informed that the club was proud to celebrate twenty-five years of unbelievable progress, while disclosing that 2015 would be celebrated as the Silver Jubilee Year with a total of 200 programmes/activities planned under the sub-headings of sports, education, anti-suicide, community development, youth development, charity, awards and religious.
Foster informed the attentive congregation that over the years, the club had made a positive difference in the lives of tens of thousands of persons and would continue to do so in the future. He also announced that this year will see emphasis being placed on the club’s nursery cricket section in an effort to produce new talent.
Special emphasis would also be placed on religious activities as the club continues to place faith in God. Father Abel Nq’andeve Musonda praised the club for its outstanding contribution and expressed confidence that the next twenty five years would be as successful as the past.
The cricket teams of the club along with its over – 35 sections also successfully completed a multi-million Charity Programme for the Christmas season as part of the Silver Jubilee launching.
Hundreds of less fortunate families received food hampers, while thousands of children received a toy for Christmas. Senior citizens were also treated to a Christmas luncheon and received numerous gifts while 40 orphans at the Camal Children’s Home in Albion also received special attention.
A massive feeding programme was also organised for less fortunate residents while numerous churches and NGO’s received footwear, toys, food items and special gifts for distribution to their members.
