It is understood that the woman who is a housewife, hailed from Black Bush Polder and was living with the 43-year-old man said to be a boat captain on one of the small boats that ply the Corentyne River to Suriname.
According to reports, the couple lived in the upper flat of a two-storey house. The woman has been the victim of constant abuse. The couple was heard in a usual argument around 17:30 hrs. Neighbours did not pay much attention since it was a regular occurrence. After a while the argument stopped and still no one paid any mind.

It is understood that the woman went to Georgetown on Thursday to conduct some business for her daughter. It is believed it was that visit that led to the argument. On her return, the argument erupted.
The man who usually portrayed jealous tendencies believed that woman was having an affair and would usually accuse her. He would even stop her from talking to the neighbours.
If she was caught talking to anyone she would be the victim of constant harassment. It is understood that the woman was injured before in the region of her abdomen and had undergone surgery. A post mortem examination performed on the woman’s body on Friday by Dr. Vivekanand Bridgemohan at the Skeldon Hospital showed that she died from asphyxiation, lack of oxygen due to blood in her lungs and the stab wound to the neck.
Udaray leaves to mourn her only child, a seven-year-old daughter, Riya, her parents, other siblings and many relatives.
Investigations are continuing.
