– 3×3 Basketball tourney culminates with epic showdown
Mackeson will crown the ‘King of the Rim’ tonight at California Square, East Ruimveldt Court when its 3×3 Basketball competition culminates with an epic showdown among top teams from the East Coast, West Coast, Linden and Georgetown.
TRS Raptors will represent the East Coast, Den Amstel ‘A’ will feature for the West Coast with Royals and Jets representing the Mining Town of Linden. Colts ‘A’, Colts ‘B’, Pacesetters ‘A’ and defending champs, Pitbulls are the Georgetown-based teams in the Super Eight Final tonight in East Ruimveldt.
Shelroy Thomas has led Colts ‘B’ with his prolific scoring ability with support from Nikkoloi Smith, Quacy Lindo and Damon Fraser. Colts ‘A’ features Dave Causway, Dane Kendall, Shane Webster and Rayon Cumming.
Pacesetters has gone back to its team that brought them the 2011 title and a place in the 2012 final. Guard Travis Burnett leads the line-up with shooting guard, Stephan Gillis and forwards, Royston Siland and Naylon Loncke.
The teams will play against the Webster brothers, Alister, Allistair and Joel from Jets and the ultra competitive Raptors from Melanie, which features forwards, Sherlan Legall and Ashton Adams along with Floyd Arthur and Rayburn Bowman.
Defending champs Pitbulls has stuck together with Akeem Kanhai, Ryan Gullen, Ryan Stephney and Jermaine Slater forming an impressive combination of skill and grit. Shooting sensation out of Linden, Chris Williams leads his Royals side.
The teams are playing for $500,000 first place purse and a $300,000 second place award along with trophies.
The competition spanned three weeks and brings together the zone winners from four zones for the grand finale tonight at California Square.
