– entertainers, professionals clash at CASH
Respect the Game Inc. will tonight host its gala basketball charity event at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with entertainers, professionals and entrepreneurs teaming up with selected national and first division players for a big basketball clash.
Team Bond, a compilation from Attorney-at-Law, James Bond will take on Team Toney, another assemblage from Journalist Rawle Toney in the featured game of a night that is expected to host four grudge games, spanning a wide-cross section of society.
The night bounces off with a High School clash between Bishop’s High and St. Roses with the second game bringing together the Diplomatic Corps against Starr Computers. The third faceoff will be between the University of Guyana and Qualfon.
The celebrity game will headline the night that is packed with activity for patrons and fans, who support the event. For starters, comedian Chow Pow was identified as host with reigning national soca monarch, Kwesi Ace also set to perform.
The night will be filled with entertainment both on and off the court. Pier 1 Sound will be bringing the vibes with DJs Gully Ras, Diamond and Green Dongs all set to keep patrons in the party mood throughout the fund raising competition.
Team Bond has drafted national forwards, Ryan Gullen (Ravens), Royston Siland (Pacesetters), Jermaine Slater (Ravens) and the high-flying Tyrone Hamid (Ravens).
Point guards, Travis Burnett (Pacesetters) and Rodwell Fortune (Ravens) along with shooting guards, Jarrell Allen (Berbice), Ryan Stephney (Ravens) and Chris Williams (Linden) have also been drafted to help Team Bond overcome the opposition.
In addition, the seasoned players will have as adequate backup, Javed Ali (Chief Executive of the Slingerz Sound), Faizal Khan (Guyanese football aficionado), Malcolm ‘Mr. Wickedee’ Ferreira (radio host 94.1 Fm) and Nuriyyih Gerrard (radio host 94.1 Fm).
Curtis ‘Casual’ Armstrong (radio host 98.1 Fm), Chad Ramsarup (Journalist), Edison Jefford (Sports Journalist), Christopher Barnwell (Guyana and West Indies cricketer), Cardella Hamilton (model), Joel Browne, Herman Liverpool and Roger Yearwood (Attorney-at-Law) were also all included in Team Bond with National Coach, Mark Agard.
The event is a call out to all sportsmen and women to return respect to the game, whatever your game may be; whether it’s the arts, sports, business or professional sectors, ‘Respect the Game’ is geared toward returning ‘respect’ to society using what it believes to be the one forum that brings people together, which is sports.
Team Toney has drafted national guard/forward, Akeem ‘The Dream’ Kanhai (Ravens); guards Dominic Vincente (Ravens), shooting guard, Shelroy Thomas (Colts), Kester Gomes, Stephan Gillis (Pacesetters); forwards Randy Richardson (Pacesetters) and ‘big-man’ Shane Webster (Colts) to ward off Team Bond.
Meanwhile, to support the seasoned players, Team Toney has enlisted Compton Babb (‘Respect the Game Inc.’), Lugard Mohan (Former National Point Guard/Coach/FIBA referee), Carey Griffith (Proprietor Wind Jammer International Hotel), Pernel Cummings (Courts Guyana Inc. Marketing Manager), Ronald Grogan (Canada), Nerissa Pearson (98.1FM), Robert Adelson (US Embassy Public Affairs Officer) and Joel Simpson (Founder-Director SASOD).
