DEAR EDITOR,
The festive season is once again with us. This is indeed a time to show love and compassion to our fellow human beings, in particular those in less fortunate circumstances.
Guyanese are known for their kindness and hospitality and I take this opportunity to urge all of us to make whatever contribution we can make to the poor and needy. There can be no greater joy than the joy of giving, however modest.
So often we get carried away with the glare of the season that the true essence of the festival is lost, namely to celebrate the virtues of modesty and simplicity rather than vanity and ostentatious consumption.
