A man whose name was given as Gregory Isaacs was rendered homeless after his lot 67 Public Road Kitty
home went up in flames in the wee hours of yesterday morning. An adjacent building was scorched.
According to neighbours the fire started at around 2 a.m. One resident speaking to this publication said that she awoke to “crackling sounds and yelling from persons”. Another neighbour, Donette Griffith, says she was awakened by her cousin’s wife who called on her to summon the fire service.
Griffith further stated that Isaacs, who was reportedly sitting on his stairs at the time, was eating when he saw the fire and attempted to save his items from the house, but neighbours shouted for him not to go back inside the house since it was ablaze. He tried but eventually had to jump to save himself. He sustained injuries in the process. A neighbour reported some water damage to furniture and a motorcycle was also damaged by the fire.
