The Guyana Police Force is also in the spirit of giving and lending a helping hand during the festive season. As such, the B Division police, led by Commander, Assistant Commissioner Brian Joseph and Second in Command, Senior Superintendent Marlon Chapman continues to churn out new initiatives and in some cases continue old traditions which are purposeful and of benefit to society.
One such initiative was held on Friday at Police B Division Headquarters, New Amsterdam.
The B Division Administration with some help from The Angoy’s Avenue Safe Neighborhood Council helped to bring joy to a number of former members, elderly, sick and less fortunate persons.
The recipients were drawn mostly from the Angoy’s Avenue area.
There were over 20 recipients including Simone Williams and Jean John of Levi Dam, Angoy’s Avenue; Fareeda Sookram , Herawattie Bharrat, Onika Andreson, Sandra Williamson and Tandica Williamson, all of Timmer’s Dam, Angoy’s Avenue; Bardadeen Cornelius, Devitre Sookhoo, Shondell Ajiday and Abiola Greaves of Caracas Dam Angoy’s Avenue; B. Vankerick of Angoy’s Avenue; Georgiana Hughes of Edinburgh; Albert Plass of Patrick Dam Angoy’s Avenue; Retired Sergeant Wilfred Kendall of Philadelphia Street; Retired Inspector Patrick Schultz of Vryheid, West Canje Berbice; Cheryl Alfred of Islington, East Bank Berbice; Marlin Frederick’s of Savannah Park; Chandrawattie Doodnauth of M&TC Housing Scheme.
Also receiving assistance was ill Police Corporal Shermaine Griffith of M&TC Housing Scheme.
The folks were presented with a hamper of goodies, comprising nutrients and other delicacies which are mostly consumed at this time of the year.
Second in Command, Senior Superintendent Marlon Chapman congratulated the recipients and wished them well in the future on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the Commander and the entire Guyana Police Force.
He stated that the police are not only about locking up persons, solving crimes, making cases and going after criminals, but they also look after people’s welfare and interest.
The activity was coordinated by Station Sergeant of The Central Police Station, Michael Newland.
All the senior Police Officers in the Division were present and assisted in the distribution and handing out of the hampers.
One retired officer stated that the hamper came in time for his birthday, which was celebrated on Saturday.
