former West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago player Michael ‘Joey’ Carew is the only player to score centuries in each innings and took five wickets in an innings in the same match since sponsored Regional Cricket began in 1966?
Captaining Trinidad and Tobago against Jamaica at the Queens Park Oval in March 1970, Carew scored 164 and 101, and took 5 for 28 from 19.1 overs in Jamaica second innings.
Scores – Trinidad and Tobago 354 all out – Michael ‘Joey’ Carew 164; Bryan Davis 65; Bernard Julien 46; Alvin Corneal 36. Bowling for Jamaica – Maurice Foster captured 5 for 76 from 28 overs; Arthur Barrett took 2 for 100 from 30 overs.
Jamaica first innings 241 all out – Renford Pinnock 70; L. Wellington 49; H. Bennett 46. Bowling for Trinidad and Tobago Willie Rodrigues captured 5 for 75 from 27.3 overs; Bernard Julien took 3 for 44 from 22 overs.
Trinidad and Tobago second innings 219 for 1 declared, Michael ‘Joey’ Carew 101; Alvin Corneal 103 not out.
Jamaica second innings 113 all out – Maurice Foster 38; Renford Pinnock 21; Lawrence Rowe 14; Samuel Morgan 13. Bowling for Trinidad and Tobago – Michael ‘Joey’ Carew captured 5 for 28 from 19.1 overs; Inshan Ali took 3 for 21 from 7 overs; Willie Rodrigues 2 for 32 from 12 overs.
Result: Trinidad won by 219 runs.
