Team Bond named for ‘Respect the Game’ Charity Basketball…
Attorney-at-Law, James Bond has named his team for the upcoming ‘Respect the Game’
Charity Basketball Showdown set for the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, December 13 where some Division I players will team up with professionals and entertainers.
Team Bond will play Team Toney, a compilation from Journalist, Rawle Toney, in what will be an entertaining grudge contest for the Respect Trophy. The celebrity-hyped event will bounce off at 7pm with a High School match-up.
The University of Guyana takes on Qualfon in the second game before the national and Division I players team up with local celebrities, professionals and entertainers for a basketball rivalry for several charities of choice.
Team Bond has drafted national forwards, Ryan Gullen (Ravens), Royston Siland (Pacesetters), Jermaine Slater (Ravens) and the high-flying Tyrone Hamid (Ravens). Point guards, Travis Burnett (Pacesetters) and Rodwell Fortune (Ravens) along with shooting guards, Jarrell Allen (Berbice), Ryan Stephney (Ravens) and Chris Williams (Linden) have also been drafted to help Team Bond overcome the opposition.
In addition, the seasoned players will have as adequate backup, Javed Ali (Chief Executive of the Slingerz Sound), Faizal Khan (Guyanese football aficionado), Malcolm ‘Mr. Wickedee’ Ferreira (radio host 94.1 Fm) and Nuriyyih Gerrard (radio host 94.1 Fm).
Curtis ‘Casual’ Armstrong (radio host 98.1 Fm), Chad Ramsarup (Journalist), Edison Jefford (Sports Journalist), Christopher Barnwell (Guyana and West Indies cricketer), Cardella Hamilton (model), Joel Browne, Herman Liverpool and Roger Yearwood (Attorney-at-Law) were also all included in Team Bond with National Coach, Mark Agard.
The event is a call out to all sportsmen and women to return respect to the game, whatever your game may be; whether it’s the arts, sports, business or professional sectors, ‘Respect the Game’ is geared toward returning ‘respect’ to society using what it believes to be the one forum that brings people together, which is sports.
Meanwhile, Giftland OfficeMax yesterday handed over its sponsorship for the event, stating that it was motivated by the concept. “We love this concept from this group as a means of respecting the game we all love,” Marketing Representative, Delroy Dash said.
Footsteps Megastore, Exclusive Styles, Boom Energy Drink, The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport under the auspices of the Director of Sport, Neil Kumar, Mohamed’s Enterprise and Buddy’s Pool Hall are among some of the other sponsors of the event.
