Dec 02, 2014 Letters
DEAR EDITOR,
I have come to the realization that politics in Guyana, if it were not so detrimental, could be as funny as ever. Twelve people, obviously AFC backers and sympathizers, signed on to a letter in KN back on October 29/2014. “Granger Leadership Chaotic,” taking some serious digs at APNU.
I started to chuckle after reading: “APNU is just a sham of nine paper political parties.” That would have been cool if they had just left it there. But of course they continued; “the political machinery of APNU is principally the command and control structure of the PNC.” As against the command structure of the AFC? By this time I am in tears.
In between their contempt, they found it convenient to patronise three members of APNU, they called them what Granger is not, Leaders. But since the reason for their letter was to bash Granger, they continued, with this idiotic statement. “…by not pushing for the no-confidence motion, it is clear that APNU is aiding, abetting and prolonging the PPP stay in office.” You talk about propaganda.
With a fairy tale understanding of the realities of life in Guyana, they further commented that “APNU has lost some political ground to the AFC”. And “unlike APNU and the PPP, the AFC leaders seem to connect with people of the grass roots level.”
At this point I had had enough. Would you believe that professional people signed that letter?
