Abel, Lalsa, Fraser propel D’ Edward to huge win
Half centuries from Eon Abel, Devendra Lalsa and Keith Fraser guided D’ Edward to a mammoth 144-run victory
over Shieldstown when the West Berbice Cricket Association (WBCA) Goodwill promotions T20 tournament continued on Saturday last.
Host D’ Edward batted first and rattled up 264-4 after the game was reduced to 17 overs due to rain. Abel slammed three fours and nine sixes in a top score of 87, Lalsa struck 71 inclusive of five fours and seven sixes while Fraser scored an unbeaten 59 (4×4 5×6) and Kevon Jawahir 26 not out. Ryan Khan claimed 2-37.
Shieldstown were restricted for 120-7 in 17 overs in reply. Karmat Ali cracked 46 (3×4 4×6) and Jameel Inshan 40 (3×4 2×6). Lalsa picked up 2-23.
At Cotton Tree, Achievers overcame Ithaca by nine wickets. Ithaca took first strike and were sent packing for 70 in 10 overs. Sherman Flatts scored 22; Sherwin Peterkin snared 3-9 and Keron Fraser 3-12. Achievers replied with 74-1 in 10 overs. Raphael Estrado cracked 42 and Fraser 16.
At Bush Lot, Hopetown defeated the host by 60 runs. Batting first the visitors managed 159-5 in 20 overs. Germaine Reynolds led with 40 (4×4,1×6), Kenge Sedoc scored 34 not out (1×4,3×6) and Stephan Adams 32 (3×4). Javed Dilchan captured 2-23.
Bush Lot were skittled for 91 in 18.4 overs in response. Rajban Hemraj made 24 while Adams grabbed 3-13 and Carwin Wayne 2-23. The competition continues on Sunday at Cotton Tree with D’Edward playing Rainbow Generation from 09:00hrs and the home team facing Bath from 13:00hrs.
