Dear Editor,
We the residents of Leguan will be grateful if you could assist us by granting us a small space in your newspaper to inform the relevant authorities about the hostage situation from which we are seeking release from.
We are seeking release from the clutches of the Police ranks, who are demanding monies from us at all level on the island.
We are poor farmers who have to work very hard for our living and these policemen and women are demanding from us, exorbitant sums for minor offences where these ranks can only warm the people of, they are demanding money.
If there are social activities on the island, for example weddings, BBQ etc despite the fact that the relevant permission is given for such activities, the police will shut down the activities long before the due time if they are not given what they want example beers and money.
There is a female rank who is creating havoc on the island; she always want a $20,000 or $40,000. Complaints have been made to the commander of the Division and to date nothing has been done.
We are calling on the government to protect the residents from this barbaric attitude of the police. We just cannot take it anymore.
