The 10th Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB)/Busta 50-over Festival which was scheduled to commence today has been postponed due to the inclement weather. Public Relations Officer of the ECB, Nazeer Mohamed told Kaieteur Sport yesterday that heavy rain fall has left the grounds waterlogged.
“The players were looking forward to the competition and they are all disappointed, nevertheless, weather permitting, we are hoping to run off the tournament before the year is out,” he added.
Defending champions East Bank, Pomeroon, Wakenaam, Bartica, South Essequibo, Leguan, Central and North Essequibo are the teams that will battle for a first place prize of $75,000 and trophy with the runner-up taking home a trophy and $25,000. The best batsman, bowler and man-of-the-match in the final will also be rewarded.
