Amid the disappointment of fans not being able to witness the preliminary showdown in the Group 4 category due to circumstances beyond the control of the Organisers, those that assembled at the South Dakota Circuit yesterday for the time trials saw some exciting action in the other divisions.
According to the Organisers, the Group 4 drivers will now have to do their trials for the top positions on the grid today and judging from the excitement and preparations of the drivers and machines, the anticipated thousands of fans will definitely be in for a real treat.
Pole sitter in the CMRC Superbike category Nikhil Seereeram goes around the Clubhouse turn yesterday.
The delay was caused when one of the competitor’s car spilled oil causing the track to become dangerous and slippery thereby forcing Race Control to abort any attempt to get the marquee group on the track in fear of drivers’ safety.
In the other categories that were contested, young NIKHIL Seereeram stole the spotlight in the Superbike Division, registering the fastest time of the day after clocking 34.30 seconds to snatch pole from another young rider Matthew Vieira, who recorded 34.80 seconds.
The experienced Joel Neblett will start in the second row along with Carlos Rodrigues, but the disappointment of the day was the performance of Stephen Vieira.
Matthew Vieira returned to grab pole position in the Superstock category, while in the Group 2 CMRC, Barbados’ Mark Thompson continued his dominance over his rivals with a blistering 38.7 seconds clocking.
He was followed by fellow Bajan Kenrick Husbands, who registered 39.01 seconds, while Guyana’s Shairaz Roshandin will start in Row 2 along with another Guyanese Shawn Seejattan.
In Group 3, Danny Persaud of Guyana will start ahead of Barbados’ Kurt Thompson.
It promises to be a full house and fans are being urged to get to the South Dakota Circuit early to witness the final leg of the Seaboard Marine CMRC.
