Most of the top stables in Guyana were rounding out preparations for the Bush Lot United Turf Club (BLUTC) one day horserace meet slated for this Sunday 16th November at the club’s racetrack at Sea View Park, Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.
Eight races are carded for the day with close to $8M up for grabs.
So far the Mohammed Shariff, Inshan Bacchus and Jumbo Jet Stables lead the entries with more than four entries each. Other stables such as Elcock, Sooklall and Appadhu also have multiple entries. Over 50 of the country’s top racehorses have already taken entry for what is expected to be an action packed day of racing.
The Feature race will be for horses classified ‘C’ and lower and has the likes of California Strike and Settle In Seattle from The inform Shariff Racing stable coming up against the likes of Grande De Roja of the Jumbo Jet Stable for a $1M first prize from a total prize package of $2M and trophy with the animals set to cover 1600M.
Other horses already entered include Mission King, Unsettled, Right To Rule, Strom Bird, Fresh Again, Battle Hymn, Silent Night, Cassie, Captain Crook, Ameera’s Joy, War Craft, She Is Running hard, Gold D Cova, Mary Ann, Red Steel Affinity, Empire Maker, I get another, Miss Lewinski, Settling jet, Maggaline, Romeo, Million Dollar Baby among others.
The other events are the F and lower 1400M event for a $500,000 winning purse and trophy.
The 1600M race for three Year old Guyana and West Indies Bred and Born animals also for a first prize of $500,000 and trophy.
The 1200M event for two year old Guyana and West Indies Bred horses for a winners money of $400,000 and trophy.
The G3 and lower 1200M race for a winning purse of $400,000 and trophy.
The ‘I’ and lower horses will compete over 1200M for a winning purse of $250,000 and trophy.
The final two races are for animals classified the J and lower and K and lower over 1400M and 1200M respectively for winning takes of $200,000 and $150,000 and trophies respectively.
A number of sponsors are also on board with the Ministry of Tourism, Hand In Hand Insurance, Phagoo General Store, Qtrex International Shipping, Banks DIH, Buddy Shivraj, Jumbo Jet, Inshan Bacchus Trucking Service, Mohammed ‘Nankoo’ Shariff and Lakeram ‘Buddy’ Sukhdeo, Shano Seeonarine and Rohan Ouditt among others.
According to coordinator Lakeram ‘Buddy’ Sookdeo rehabilitation work has been completed and turfites turning up at the venue on race day are expected to be greeted by a completely refurbish structure. The grand stand, the paddock, fencing, the rails, jockey board and the officials housing area are all being completed. Most of the turns on the track has also been reshaped which will give the animals a better flow in the races.
Top individual performers including top jockey, stable and trainer will be presented with trophies compliments of the organizers.
