Dear Editor,
I had to ensure that the facts were available before penning this letter as Mr. Bissoondyal Singh may very well drag me before the court as he had done on so many occasions to others, for flippant reasons.
The Kaieteur News of 31st October, 2014 carried a story captioned “Anil Persaud and Taignauth Jadunauth sued for $50 Million by ECCB President”. The author of the article failed to state what exactly was in the order of court but rambled about the statement of claim.
I had a look at the Court order issued by Hon. Judge Diane Inshanalli which states “It is Ordered that the respondents/defendants and each of them whether by themselves, their servants and/or agents be restrained and an injunction is hereby granted restraining the defendants and each of them by themselves, their servants and/or agents or otherwise whomsoever from further writing, printing or publishing or circulating or causing to be written, printed, published or circulated the said defamatory words contained in Kaieteur News Newspaper edition or issue published on the 6th day of October 2014 and Stabroek News Newspaper on 7th day of October 2014 or any other words or matter to the same or like effect until the determination of a summons returnable for the 18th November 2014”. The honourable judge went on to order service.
At no point did the Judge order anything that remotely concerned East Coast Cricket Board, who is legitimate or not, or who is responsible for cricket on the East Coast. This is another total fabrication.
Mr. Bissoondyal Singh is again misleading the public into believing that the honourable Judge ruled on his legitimacy as president of the ECCB. The gentlemen basically claimed in their letters to the press that Mr. Bissoondyal Singh is incompetent, held illegitimate elections of the ECCB and was threatening competent persons with court action if they rescue the East Coast youths by playing competitive cricket to facilitate their teams’ participation in DCB cricket.
In fact Mr. Singh in his sworn affidavit is claiming that Mr. Anil Persaud and Mr. Taignauth Jadunauth made remarks in letters to the media that has caused damage to his character hence the judge issued an interim order on an ex parte application. Mr. Singh has made a lot of incriminatory statements about almost everyone challenging him in the cricketing circles. However these decent individuals were able to keep focused and not bother with his ramblings.
Of course not everyone likes to go to court and it certainly helps when your personal lawyer and friend is the Attorney General, we all know how convenient that can be especially if your case has no merit.
The honourable gentlemen, Persaud and Jadunauth, would now have a chance to respond and that would be interesting as the sentiments expressed by these gentlemen are common to most on the East Coast. All of us are aware the Bissoon held an AGM with students and parents (admitted publicly by the purported ECCB) and not the representative cricket playing clubs on the East Coast.
Anil and Tage continue to do the tremendous job of helping and developing youths on the East Coast especially at Enmore.
It is time for the DCB to pronounce on all the illegalities of the ECCB and its purported President. If these people are not participating in activities of the Demerara Board then they have breached their conditions of membership and should be removed.
Yours Sincerely,
Dianand Dyal
