A city businessman is nursing a gunshot wound to his left side after he was shot by bandits yesterday while trying to thwart a robbery.
Inshan Ally, a licenced firearm holder, is presently hospitalised after he was shot in the Style Palace General Store on King Street, Georgetown, at around 16:05 hours when he confronted two bandits.
According to the police, the two men, one of whom had a firearm, entered the store and demanded cash from 60-year-old businesswoman Rakeema Ally, of Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara.
The woman grabbed a cutlass and put up a resistance, while Inshan Ally reached for his firearm. But before he could get off a shot, the bandit with the gun shot Ally to his left side and the men made good their escape.
The wounded businessman was rushed to hospital where he was immediately admitted.
