Sydney, Australia – Stafanie Taylor’s brilliant 95 couldn’t spark the West Indies Women to victory in
the 1st ICC Women’s Championship One Day International against Australia Women yesterday.
Along with a debut half-century from opener, Hayley Matthews, Taylor’s knock took the West Indies Women to 240-8 from their 50 overs. Coincidentally, captain of Australia Women, Meg Lanning, also scored 95 that trumped Taylor’s innings.
Opener, Nicole Bolton, hit 59 while Ellyse Perry scored 53 as the Aussies won the 1st ODI by three wickets. Taylor, Anisa Mohammed and Shanel Daley all finished with two wickets each.
Earlier, Taylor spanked 95 from 102, hitting twelve boundaries along the way. She shared in second wicket stand with Matthews worth 109 runs. Matthews scored 55.
